Arizona’s Chandler Police Department has concluded its investigation into the May drowning of three-year-old Trigg Kiser and has recommended that the boy’s father, Brady Kiser, be charged with Class 4 felony child abuse. The case file was sent on 15 July to the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office, which will decide whether to prosecute, seek additional evidence or drop the matter. According to search-warrant affidavits, Kiser told detectives he was caring for the couple’s two-month-old son, Theodore, on 12 May when he lost sight of Trigg for three to five minutes. The child was found floating in the family’s backyard pool in Chandler and died six days later at Phoenix Children’s Hospital. Police noted that the pool was usually covered and sought surveillance footage to corroborate Kiser’s account. Under Arizona law, a Class 4 felony child-abuse conviction—defined as criminal negligence that places a child in danger—carries a potential prison term of up to three years for a first-time offender. No arrest has been made; formal charges will depend on the county attorney’s review. Trigg’s mother, lifestyle influencer Emilie Kiser, who has more than four million TikTok followers, was not at home during the incident. In late May she filed a civil suit seeking to keep investigative records, including 911 calls and scene photos, sealed, arguing that public release would compound the family’s grief. That litigation remains pending.
