A 1-year-old boy died after being left in a hot car by his 20-year-old mother, Maya Hernandez, while she attended a lip filler appointment at a medical spa in California. The incident occurred on June 29 during a day when temperatures reached 101 degrees Fahrenheit. Hernandez left her two young sons, aged 1 and 2, strapped in their car seats in the backseat of her 2022 Toyota Corolla Hybrid with the engine running and air conditioning on. Despite the air conditioning, the internal temperature inside the vehicle reportedly reached 107 degrees Fahrenheit, with experts suggesting it could have been as high as 143 degrees. Police have charged Hernandez following the child's death, which has left the family mourning.
