Two people were killed and six others wounded when gunfire erupted at an unlicensed warehouse party in downtown Los Angeles in the early hours of Monday, 4 August, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. Police said they had first arrived at the venue, near 14th Place and Griffith Avenue, around 11 p.m. Sunday after spotting a person who appeared to be armed. The individual was arrested and officers cleared the building, but they were called back about two hours later after reports of shots fired. A man was pronounced dead at the scene; a woman died later at a hospital. Six more victims were transported to local hospitals in unspecified conditions. The gathering was billed as an after-party for the HARD Summer electronic-music festival, which concluded earlier on Sunday at Hollywood Park adjacent to SoFi Stadium. The event is produced by Insomniac Events. Investigators have not disclosed a motive and have not said whether any arrests have been made besides the earlier weapons-related detention.
