The Pinal County Attorney's Office announced on August 12, 2025, that it will seek the death penalty for the man accused of killing Apache Junction Police Officer Gabriel Facio in June. Officer Facio was shot during a road rage incident and later died from his injuries. The announcement was made by Pinal County Attorney Brad Miller during a press conference held over two months after the shooting. Separately, a wanted man involved in a law enforcement pursuit was shot and killed by the U.S. Marshals Service in Chandler near Germann and Price roads. An investigation into this officer-involved shooting is ongoing.
