Tampa police broke up a confrontation between demonstrators and supporters outside the Turning Point USA Student Action Summit on 12 July. Officers moved in after skirmishes erupted near the Tampa Convention Center, where the conservative gathering was taking place. Authorities said 45-year-old Trevor Darryl Smith was arrested at the scene and booked on charges of battery, resisting arrest and driving under the influence. The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office confirmed on 13 July that Smith remained in custody while the case is processed. Inside the venue, former acting Immigration and Customs Enforcement director Tom Homan paused his keynote to rebuke a heckler, an incident that drew cheers from attendees but did not disrupt the program. Conference events continued as scheduled, and police reported no serious injuries or additional arrests.
