Police: Woman arrested at Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach said she had 'urgent message' for Trump "Shaw told agents there were firearms in her van, and the arrest report said a handgun was seized during Shaw's arrest.' https://t.co/YVxqGMK9fo
Palm Beach Police arrested Caroline Shaw, a 49-year-old Orlando resident, after she approached the south gate of former President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate around 10 p.m. on 7 July claiming she carried an “urgent message” for him. According to a probable-cause affidavit, Shaw told U.S. Secret Service agents there were firearms in her gray Mercedes van, prompting officers to secure the vehicle and recover a handgun. Shaw was taken to the Palm Beach County Jail on misdemeanor counts of driving with a suspended license and failure to register a vehicle. Court records show her driver’s license had been suspended since 23 April 2023 for unpaid traffic citations, and the vehicle’s registration lapsed in December 2021. A judge set bond at $2,000 and ordered Shaw to have no contact with Trump, Mar-a-Lago or any of the former president’s properties. The Palm Beach Police Department has also petitioned for a one-year risk protection order that would bar her from possessing firearms or ammunition. Trump was in Washington, D.C., at the time of the incident, which did not disrupt Secret Service protective operations.
