President Donald Trump on Friday authorised U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement to arrest anyone who attacks the agency’s officers or vehicles, saying agents may use “whatever means is necessary” to protect themselves. The directive, issued on Truth Social at 7:32 p.m. Eastern while the president was returning from Texas, instructs Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem and Border Czar Tom Homan to implement the order immediately. Trump said he had viewed videos showing “thugs” hurling rocks and bricks at moving ICE vehicles, damaging new patrol cars and endangering officers. He called the assailants “slimeballs” and wrote that he “never wants to see a car carrying a law-enforcement officer attacked again.” The president’s statement follows a series of confrontations this week, including an immigration raid at a cannabis farm in Ventura County, California, where protesters reportedly threw projectiles at federal agents, prompting officers to deploy tear gas and other non-lethal munitions. The new guidance puts DHS components on notice to detain and prosecute any future attackers as soon as violence occurs.

This needs to happen. Time to arrest all of them. Period. @realDonaldTrump I am on my way back from Texas, and watched in disbelief as THUGS were violently throwing rocks and bricks at ICE Officers while they were moving down a roadway in their car and/or official vehicle.
