Temple Police Arrest 22-Year-Old, Probe Pre-Dawn Shootings That Injured One

Temple, Texas — Temple Police arrested 22-year-old Javare Sanders on aggravated-assault charges after he allegedly fired multiple shots at a vehicle in the 000 block of South 14th Street shortly after 12:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 26. No one was hurt, but officers recovered shell casings and broken glass at the scene and later found additional casings on Sanders when he was taken into custody around 1:47 a.m. He was booked into the Bell County Jail. Roughly 90 minutes later, officers were called to South First Street and West Avenue J where gunfire erupted from a stolen vehicle in a separate drive-by attack, leaving one person with non-life-threatening injuries. Detectives are investigating whether the two early-morning shootings are connected and have asked anyone with information to contact the department or Bell County Crime Stoppers.
