"Unprovoked act of violence": Suspect sought in fatal shooting of boy, 15, in Mount Dennis. https://t.co/3Xq1mEF9AB
Toronto Police Service investigators said Wednesday that the fatal shooting of 15-year-old Jahkai Jack in the city’s Mount Dennis neighbourhood was an unprovoked attack and urged the gunman to surrender. Detective Sergeant Phillip Campbell told reporters that Jack was standing with friends near Emmett Avenue and Jane Street at about 10 p.m. on 7 June when a man in dark clothing pulled a handgun and opened fire, striking the teenager. Jack was taken to a trauma centre where he died of his injuries. Police said the assailant fled on foot and have yet to determine a motive. The killing was Toronto’s 14th homicide of the year. Investigators appealed to the public for any information and reiterated that Jack had no gang ties or criminal history.
