U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia Jeanine Pirro said Monday that Nathalie Rose Jones, a 50-year-old resident of Lafayette, Indiana, was arrested in Washington on Saturday and charged with two federal offenses for allegedly plotting to assassinate President Donald Trump. A criminal complaint states that Jones traveled from New York to the capital, attended a protest near the White House on 16 August and continued posting threats on Facebook and Instagram, including an August 6 message declaring she was willing to “sacrificially kill” the President by disemboweling him. Secret Service agents had monitored the posts since early August and interviewed her on 15 August, when she admitted she would act if given the chance and claimed to have a bladed weapon for the purpose. Jones is charged with threatening the life of the President and with transmitting threatening communications in interstate commerce. Pirro said the case will be prosecuted “to the full extent of the law” and credited Secret Service agents in New York and Washington for the arrest. The investigation remains ongoing.
