The U.S. Department of Commerce has partnered with blockchain oracle provider Chainlink to publish official macroeconomic statistics from the Bureau of Economic Analysis directly onto public blockchains, the two parties said on 28 Aug. 2025. Under the arrangement, Chainlink Data Feeds will distribute indicators such as real gross domestic product, the Personal Consumption Expenditures price index and real final sales to private domestic purchasers. The figures, updated monthly or quarterly, are initially available on more than ten networksāincluding Ethereum, Arbitrum, Avalanche, Base and Optimismāwith additional chains to be added based on demand. Making government data machine-readable and cryptographically verifiable on-chain is expected to support new use cases ranging from automated trading strategies and tokenized assets to decentralised-finance risk management and real-time economic dashboards. The collaboration represents the Commerce Departmentās most direct deployment of blockchain infrastructure and follows a series of consultations between Chainlink and U.S. regulators on digital-asset policy.
