U.S. retail sales increased by 0.6% in June 2025, surpassing expectations of a 0.1% rise and rebounding from a 0.9% decline in May. The core retail sales also grew by 0.5%. This marks the first increase in three months. Analysts attribute the strong performance partly to discounting strategies employed during the month, as well as population growth supporting retail demand. The higher retail sales volumes contributed positively to the second quarter GDP growth.
Yes there was discounting but it is population growth that is the retailers best friend. https://t.co/kMRqrz4BJm
Retail sales volumes were also higher than expected adding to Q2 GDP growth https://t.co/HXWE9OQ6mR
Very strong June retail sales due to discounting in the month https://t.co/DR25lSmIfM
