Recently unearthed photographs and archival video obtained by CNN’s investigative unit KFile show financier Jeffrey Epstein attending Donald Trump’s December 1993 wedding to Marla Maples at the Plaza Hotel in New York and conversing with Trump at a Victoria’s Secret fashion show in 1999. The material had not been widely publicised and predates Epstein’s first known legal troubles in 2005. The images add new detail to a decades-long social relationship between the two men, which included appearances at high-profile events in Palm Beach and New York throughout the 1990s. Flight logs previously showed Trump flew on Epstein’s jets at least seven times; no law-enforcement agency has accused the former president of wrongdoing in connection with Epstein. Asked about the newly surfaced footage, President Trump dismissed the report, telling CNN in a brief phone call, “You’ve got to be kidding me,” before labelling the network “fake news.” White House Communications Director Steven Cheung said in a statement that the pictures were “out-of-context frame grabs” from widely attended events and reiterated that Trump barred Epstein from his club years ago. The disclosures come as the Justice Department faces criticism for declining to release long-promised files related to Epstein and as federal prosecutors weigh whether to unseal grand-jury materials tied to Epstein associate Ghislaine Maxwell. Lawyers for Maxwell said they are in discussions with the government about a possible meeting.
