Harvard Law professor emeritus Alan Dershowitz, who represented Jeffrey Epstein in 2008 and later served on Donald Trump’s impeachment defense team, said in a 10 July appearance on the “Sean Spicer Show” that he has reviewed the complete set of sealed Epstein files while defending himself against past accusations. “Documents are being suppressed to protect individuals. I know the names, I know why they’re being suppressed, and I know who’s suppressing them,” he told Spicer, adding that a judge’s confidentiality order prevents him from disclosing details. Dershowitz said the material implicates figures from both business and politics and urged the release of “every single document, no redaction.” The claim directly challenges a two-page memo issued on 8 July by the Justice Department and FBI, which concluded that Epstein maintained no blackmail “client list” and that there is no credible evidence of additional wrongdoing by prominent associates. The memo also confirmed the official finding that Epstein died by suicide in a Manhattan jail cell in August 2019 and said no further disclosures were warranted. Dershowitz argued that withholding the records not only shields potential offenders but also hinders people who may have been falsely accused. Sigrid McCawley, an attorney for several Epstein victims, likewise criticized federal authorities this week for sitting on what she called a “treasure trove” of information. The renewed dispute is intensifying calls from victims’ advocates and transparency groups for the White House and courts to unseal the remaining documents related to Epstein and his wider network.
