BREAKING: The FBI instructed ~1,000 federal agents to flag any mention of Trump in the Epstein files — over 100,000 pages of records.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation removed President Donald Trump’s name, along with those of other prominent figures, from government files related to Jeffrey Epstein, Bloomberg reported, citing three people familiar with the matter. The redactions were applied under privacy exemptions that allow the agency to shield references to individuals who were private citizens when the Epstein investigation began in 2006. The review was part of Trump’s campaign pledge to release the Epstein records. Bloomberg said the task involved roughly 1,000 FBI employees who examined more than 100,000 pages of material before determining what could be made public. Late last month, the Justice Department and the FBI concluded that additional disclosures would “not be appropriate or warranted.” The redactions have fueled criticism of the president’s transparency promise. Earlier in the week, Trump suggested his name may have been “planted” in the files, while a Washington Post survey found that nearly 60% of Americans, including a majority of independents and about one-third of his 2024 voters, disapprove of his handling of the issue.
