The Sarasota Police Department has released body-camera footage showing officers pulling an unconscious woman from a burning car moments before the vehicle was engulfed in flames. The rescue followed a three-car collision in the early hours of 30 June at the junction of state roads 45 and 683, a stretch of US 41/US 301 on Sarasota’s north side. Officers were working an unrelated call across the street when they heard the impact and ran to assist. In the video, flames spread from the engine compartment as officers cut the driver’s seat belt and dragged her clear, shouting "Get her out!" Seconds after the rescue, the car was fully ablaze, according to the department. The driver, whose identity has not been released, was taken to hospital; her condition has not been disclosed. The Sarasota Police traffic unit is investigating the cause of the crash.
