Video Shows Gaza Paramedic Reviving Baby After Israeli Strike

A video circulated late Tuesday shows a Palestinian paramedic simultaneously steering an ambulance and performing manual chest compressions on an infant after an Israeli airstrike struck displacement tents in Al-Mawasi, west of Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip. The footage, filmed on 8 July, captures the medic using one hand to keep the girl—identified by local reporters as Mariam Maʿrouf—alive while the other grips the wheel of the crowded vehicle transporting multiple wounded civilians. Local media said the tents had housed families who had fled earlier fighting. The scene underscores the strain on Gaza’s emergency services, which are contending with equipment shortages and damaged roads more than nine months into the war between Israel and Hamas. Israeli authorities had no immediate comment on the incident.
