Online marketplace AliExpress has rolled out the first substantial markdowns on Nintendo’s Switch 2 console less than three months after the device’s 5 June debut. French shoppers can pick up a bundle that includes the console and “Mario Kart World” for €408, more than €100 below the launch price, by applying the code BSFR100 between 18 and 27 August. In the United States, AliExpress is advertising imported Switch 2 units for $428.99—or $452.11 with the racing game—after a $100 coupon code. Stock is capped at a few hundred units per offer, and the retailer says the promotion will end once supplies run out. The unexpected price cut has prompted comparisons with Sony’s current-generation hardware. AliExpress is simultaneously offering the standard PlayStation 5 at €402, down from €509, marking one of the steepest discounts yet on the console. While the Switch 2 is sold without a regional Nintendo warranty, the PlayStation 5 deal includes a two-year manufacturer guarantee and free shipping from an EU warehouse. The promotions form the centrepiece of AliExpress’s annual back-to-school campaign and arrive as U.S. retailers such as Walmart, Best Buy and Amazon deploy their own late-summer deals on televisions, headphones and gaming accessories. Analysts say the aggressive pricing underscores rising competition for discretionary electronics spending ahead of the Labor Day shopping window and may foreshadow broader discounting if inventories remain elevated.
