France’s Ministry of Education said the provisional pass rate for the 2025 baccalauréat stands at 85.75 %, marginally higher than the 85.5 % recorded at the same stage last year. The figure was announced by Education Minister Elisabeth Borne on Friday during a visit to Janvry in Essonne as results began appearing across the country. Some 720,806 pupils in the general, technological and professional streams sat the national school-leaving exam this year. Results were released throughout the day, starting at 07:00 in La Réunion and continuing across mainland academies from late morning. Candidates scoring between 8 and 10 out of 20 will sit oral resits from 7 to 9 July; after rattrapage the overall success rate traditionally exceeds 90 %—it reached 91.2 % in 2024.
