The Ministry of Education in Bangladesh announced the results of the 2025 Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent examinations on July 10 at 2:00 p.m. This year, a total of 1,928,970 candidates from nine general education boards, as well as madrasa and technical boards, participated in the exams held across 3,714 centers and 30,088 educational institutions. The overall pass rate declined sharply to 68.45%, with 139,032 students achieving the highest GPA-5 grade. The Rajshahi Education Board recorded the highest pass rate at 77.63%, although it decreased compared to the previous year, while the Barisal Board had the lowest pass rate. The Cumilla Board's pass rate stood at 63.60%, with 9,902 students attaining GPA-5. The Bangladesh Madrasa Education Board reported a pass rate of 68.09%. Jashore Board's pass rate fell to 73.69%, also lower than last year. A total of 984 institutions achieved a 100% pass rate, but 134 institutions had zero pass rates, indicating an increase in schools with no successful candidates. For the tenth consecutive year, female students outperformed male students in pass rates. The Dhaka Board experienced the highest absenteeism among candidates, while Chattogram had the lowest. Students dissatisfied with their results can apply for re-evaluation following the official procedures and fees set by the Ministry. The number of students expelled for malpractice was the lowest in six years. Additionally, the Barisal Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board announced that 17 schools under its jurisdiction achieved a 100% pass rate. The results highlight regional disparities and a general decline in pass rates and top grades compared to previous years.
