France’s Professional Football League (LFP) has launched Ligue 1+, a dedicated streaming service that will carry eight live Ligue 1 matches every weekend when the new season begins on 15 August. The platform, available from 11 August, marks the league’s first direct-to-consumer offer after a series of fragmented rights deals and a surge in piracy last year. Amazon Prime Video is leading the distribution push with a promotional price of €12.99 a month, locked in for 12 months for customers who subscribe before 31 August. After the introductory period the fee rises to €14.99, matching the standard ‘Pass Ligue 1’ sold directly by LFP Media with a one-year commitment. Fans wanting full flexibility can pay €19.99 a month without commitment, while a mobile-only or under-26 plan costs €9.99. Ligue 1+ is also being carried by DAZN and French broadband operators including Free, Orange, Bouygues and SFR, broadening its reach beyond the league’s own apps. Subscriptions allow two simultaneous streams from two different households, but LFP Media says it will monitor accounts to curb password sharing that artificially halves the cost. The new service is intended to stabilise the league’s domestic media revenues after last season’s short-lived deal with DAZN and to lure viewers back from illegal feeds by bundling most top-flight matches on a single, attractively priced platform.
