Former Trigema chief executive Wolfgang Grupp, 83, has been admitted to hospital after a helicopter was dispatched to his home in Burladingen, Baden-Württemberg, late Sunday, local authorities confirmed. A Trigema spokeswoman said Grupp is "doing well for his age" and gave no further medical details. Police, citing privacy rules, said the patient was flown from a private residence and that there are no indications of third-party involvement or a criminal act. Grupp led the family-owned sports- and leisurewear manufacturer from 1969 until early 2024, when he handed day-to-day control to his children, Wolfgang Grupp Jr. and Bonita Grupp. One of Germany’s most recognisable business figures, Grupp remains a shareholder and public voice of the company.
