British singer Jessie J said she was admitted to hospital overnight after developing an infection six weeks after undergoing a mastectomy and breast-reconstruction surgery for early-stage cancer. The 37-year-old performer, known for hits such as “Price Tag,” told followers the sudden return to the surgical ward on 2 August came when she experienced symptoms resembling a pulmonary blood clot. Hospital tests ruled out a clot but showed a still-unspecified infection and a small build-up of fluid on her lungs, she said. Jessie J, who had the cancerous tissue removed on 23 June, was discharged after 24 hours and will continue treatment as an outpatient. She noted the physical recovery has been slower than expected but confirmed earlier test results that the cancer itself had been cleared.
