Kraft Heinz Foods Company has voluntarily recalled about 367,812 pounds of fully cooked Oscar Mayer Turkey Bacon Original after in-house laboratory testing indicated potential contamination with Listeria monocytogenes, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) said in a notice issued 2 July. The affected bacon was produced at the firm’s Newberry, South Carolina, facility between 24 April and 11 June. It includes 12-ounce, 36-ounce and 48-ounce vacuum-packed packages bearing UPC codes 071871548601, 071871548748 and 071871548793, “use-by” dates from 18 July to 4 September 2025, and lot codes RS19, RS40 or RS42. Shipments went to retailers across the United States as well as to the British Virgin Islands and Hong Kong. FSIS classified the action as a Class I recall—the agency’s most serious designation—yet reported no confirmed illnesses. Consumers are advised to discard the product or return it for a refund and to contact a healthcare provider if they experience symptoms of listeriosis, which can be especially dangerous for pregnant people, older adults and those with weakened immune systems. In a separate alert, the Food and Drug Administration assigned the same high-risk classification to a recall of roughly 12,000 pounds of organic blueberries produced by Alma Pak International after routine testing also detected Listeria monocytogenes. The fruit was shipped to a single customer in North Carolina. Regulators said the two recalls underscore continuing efforts to strengthen food-safety controls amid a rise in listeria incidents.
