Costco Wholesale is urging its 128 million members to check recent purchases after the retailer posted recall notices covering nearly a dozen products, ranging from automobile tires to household appliances and food. The company said customers should stop using the affected items immediately and follow manufacturer instructions for repairs, replacement or refunds. Safety concerns vary by product. Bridgestone’s Blizzak 6 replacement tires in size 235/40R19 lack a required Department of Transportation certification mark, while Michelin’s Agilis CrossClimate tires in size 185/60R15C fail a federal endurance standard, raising crash-risk worries. Midea and Danby U-shaped window air-conditioners—part of a 1.7-million-unit U.S. recall—can accumulate water and foster mold. Anker’s Model A1257 and A1263 lithium-ion power banks, more than 1 million of which have been sold, may overheat or ignite. Other items include 3.8 million Bowflex adjustable dumbbells whose weight plates can detach (349 complaints and 111 reported injuries), 1.2 million Igloo 90-quart rolling coolers that can crush or amputate fingertips, and Ninja Foodi pressure cookers whose lids may open while pressurised, risking burns. Costco is also flagging select Topo Chico mineral-water multipacks in Texas and Louisiana and Fresh & Ready Foods sandwiches and salads in four western states over potential bacterial contamination. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and other federal agencies are overseeing the various recalls. Costco said members can return recalled merchandise to any warehouse for a full refund or pursue free repairs or replacements through the manufacturers. The warehouse chain operates more than 620 U.S. stores and expects to reach about 914 locations worldwide by the end of fiscal 2025.
