The Washington Capitals opened their annual development camp on Tuesday at MedStar Capitals Iceplex, bringing 31 prospects and invitees to Arlington, Virginia, for a five-day program that runs through 5 July. The group is headlined by Western Hockey League scoring leader Andrew Cristall, Boston University defenseman Cole Hutson and 2025 first-round draft pick Lynden Lakovic, who will take part in on-ice testing, skills sessions and a 3-on-3 tournament. Former Capitals goaltender and 2018 Stanley Cup winner Braden Holtby has returned as a guest goalie coach, working alongside franchise great Olaf Kolzig and Vegas Golden Knights netminder Logan Thompson. The trio will guide five goaltending prospects during dedicated sessions before the full-team scrimmages.
