The Pittsburgh Penguins acquired veteran defenseman Matt Dumba and a 2028 second-round draft pick from the Dallas Stars in exchange for fellow blueliner Vladislav Kolyachonok, the clubs announced Thursday. Dumba, 30, carries a $3.75 million cap hit and has one season left on the two-year contract he signed with Dallas in 2024. He produced 10 points across 63 games last season but did not dress during the Stars’ 18-game postseason run. His arrival gives Pittsburgh another right-shot option alongside Erik Karlsson and Kris Letang, though the Penguins have been weighing trade possibilities involving Karlsson. Dallas receives Kolyachonok, 24, who earns $775,000 and will be a restricted free agent in 2026. The move brings the Stars under the salary cap, leaving them with roughly $1.95 million in room and 21 players on the active roster.
