Veteran forward Zac Dalpe announced his retirement on 7 July after a professional career that spanned more than a decade and included stints with six National Hockey League clubs. A second-round draft pick of the Carolina Hurricanes, Dalpe went on to skate for Carolina, Vancouver, Buffalo, Minnesota, Columbus and Florida, while also logging 574 games in the American Hockey League. The former Ohio State University standout’s most memorable NHL moment came in the 2023 Stanley Cup playoffs, when his late goal for the Panthers against Boston forced a deciding Game 7. Dalpe’s career was marked by frequent call-ups between the NHL and AHL, where he served as a captain and veteran mentor. Teammates and coaches praised his perseverance through multiple injuries and his leadership in the dressing room.
This is terrific. Well done @ZacDalpe22. Congrats on a great career and maybe you should be a hockey writer now. https://t.co/pUWfnEjGul
