The All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) delegation led by its National President, MP Asaduddin Owaisi, visited the Election Commission of India (ECI) in Delhi to raise concerns regarding the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in the poll-bound state of Bihar. Owaisi criticized the SIR process for being conducted without consultation with political parties. The delegation met with Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and Election Commissioners Dr. Vivek Joshi and Dr. Sukhbir Singh Sandhu to present their suggestions and express their apprehensions about the electoral process. Separately, the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), a BJP ally, also met with the ECI and submitted several suggestions aimed at strengthening electoral roll management and enhancing transparency. The TDP delegation, led by State President Palla Srinivasa Rao, urged the ECI to clearly define the scope and purpose of the SIR exercise, emphasizing that it should be limited to roll correction and not linked to citizenship verification. The TDP also called for adequate time to be given for the electoral roll revision and advocated for a presumption of inclusion to ensure transparency and fairness in the process.
