The Bharatiya Janata Party on 1 July appointed new state presidents in three southern and northern units as it refreshes its regional leadership cadres. In Andhra Pradesh, former Legislative Council member P.V.N. Madhav was named state president. Speaking in Vijayawada after the announcement, Madhav called the appointment an honour, noting it coincides with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh’s centenary year. Telangana’s leadership passed to senior lawyer and former legislator N. Ramchander Rao, who thanked the party’s central command and state colleagues after receiving the appointment letter from BJP national vice-president Shobha Karandlaje. In Himachal Pradesh, Union Minister Jitendra Singh confirmed that ex-assembly speaker Dr. Rajeev Bindal would return to lead the state organisation. Singh said Bindal’s experience would help advance Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s development agenda.
