Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy is facing mounting opposition demands for his resignation over the Banakacherla project, which involves water sharing from the Godavari River between Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. Opposition leaders, including BRS MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha and Telangana Jagruti President, have accused Revanth Reddy and Irrigation Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy of compromising Telangana's water rights and failing to protect the state's interests. Kavitha urged Revanth Reddy to lead an all-party delegation to Delhi to address the issue and warned of potential legal action if the project proceeds unfavorably. The Union Jal Shakti Ministry announced the formation of a high-level technical committee comprising senior officials to examine concerns related to the Polavaram Banakacherla Link Project and other pending inter-state water disputes between Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. Despite discussions, BRS leaders expressed dissatisfaction with the outcomes, stating that the dialogue did not yield positive results for Telangana. Meanwhile, agreements were reached on certain water management measures, including the installation of telemetry systems to monitor water usage at major reservoirs, establishment of the Godavari River Management Board in Hyderabad, and commencement of repairs on the Srisailam project. Telangana BJP President N. Ramchander Rao called for an amicable resolution between the states and the Jal Shakti Ministry, cautioning against politicization of the issue.
