Over 3,000 Flee to Mizoram Following Armed Clashes In Myanmar's Chin State https://t.co/zA98kIkIcO https://t.co/4mddfHaV3Z
Roughly 3,000 – 4,000 people from Myanmar’s north-western Chin State have crossed into India’s Mizoram since 2 July, Indian security officials said on Monday. The latest influx follows intensified fighting between two anti-junta militias, the Chin National Defence Force and the Chinland Defence Force-Hualngoram, over control of strategic areas along the border. Mizoram interior minister K Sapdanga confirmed the arrivals and said authorities are providing food, water and temporary shelter in the border villages of Zokhawthar and Saikhumphai in Champhai district. The numbers remain fluid as clashes continue and more civilians seek safety across the Tiau River frontier. The remote hill state is already hosting more than 30,000 refugees who fled Myanmar after the military seized power in 2021. New Delhi has not granted formal refugee status to the arrivals, but local administrations in India’s north-east are managing humanitarian assistance while federal agencies monitor the porous border.
