The United Liberation Front of Asom (Independent) [ULFA(I)], a proscribed militant group, has alleged that drone attacks carried out by the Indian Army targeted its camps along the Indo-Myanmar border, resulting in the deaths of 19 cadres, including three of its leaders. The Indian Army has denied any involvement or knowledge of these drone strikes. ULFA(I) is led by Paresh Baruah, who is believed to be hiding in China. The region of northern Myanmar remains a hotspot for insurgent activity, with multiple militant groups operating there. The situation has led ULFA(I) to seek new hideouts amid these attacks. Separately, intensified anti-Maoist operations in Bastar have prompted a change in rebel strategy.
