Thousands of refugees from Myanmar have fled into India's northeastern state of Mizoram following armed clashes between two ethnic armed groups opposing the junta in Myanmar's Chin State. Indian officials reported that nearly 4,000 people crossed the border over the past week due to the fighting. The influx has been described as a fresh wave of refugees seeking safety in Mizoram. Separately, more than 500 civilians and soldiers have crossed into Thailand after an assault by ethnic fighters on a military base in Myanmar. In response to ongoing insurgent activity, the Indian Army conducted a large-scale drone strike targeting camps of the United Liberation Front of Asom-Independent (ULFA-I) in Myanmar, reportedly killing several cadres and commanders. ULFA has acknowledged the attacks on its outfits. Some Myanmar nationals who sought refuge in Mizoram have since returned home.
