Delhi Police have intensified operations against illegal Bangladeshi migrants across multiple districts, resulting in the detention of over 150 individuals since mid-June 2025. In the South-West District, 17 illegal Bangladeshi migrants, including a newborn, were detained during a verification drive in Vasant Kunj, with deportation processes initiated in coordination with the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO), Delhi. Subsequent actions led to the arrest of 10 more Bangladeshi nationals in separate operations in South-West and Central districts, who were residing illegally after their visas expired. The South West District Anti-Illegal Migration team also detained a migrant who had been living in India for 15 years using false Indian identification. In Ashok Vihar, 18 illegal Bangladeshi nationals were apprehended, including five disguised as transgender women; authorities seized seven smartphones equipped with the banned IMO app used for communication with families in Bangladesh. The North-West District Foreigners Cell arrested seven illegal Bangladeshi nationals, including five transgenders, among them a repeat offender who had been deported in May 2025 but re-entered illegally. In East Delhi, a major crackdown resulted in the detention of 83 illegal Bangladeshi migrants, with police focusing on identifying and deporting both Bangladeshi nationals and Rohingya individuals. Since the start of 2025, the East Delhi police have apprehended and deported 36 illegal migrants as part of this ongoing campaign. These coordinated efforts reflect Delhi Police's commitment to curbing illegal immigration through raids, verification drives, and deportation procedures.
