A four-member BJP investigation committee has arrived in Kolkata to probe an alleged gang rape case, highlighting concerns over women's safety in West Bengal. The committee includes former Union Minister Satpal Singh, BJP MP Meenakashi Lekhi, and BJP MLA Agnimitra Paul, who have emphasized the deteriorating law and order situation in the state. They criticized the West Bengal government, led by a woman Chief Minister, for failing to protect women and allowing crimes against them to continue unabated. The BJP leaders accused the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) government of criminalizing victims, obstructing FIR registrations, and protecting criminals. Union Minister Bhupender Yadav also condemned the state government's handling of the situation, calling it a failure amid regular atrocities against women. The BJP team has sought meetings with Kolkata police officials to discuss the investigation and expressed concern over repeated incidents like the previous RG Kar College rape case.
