Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani addressed the 5th Annual Conference of the Society for Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery – Asia Pacific (SMISS-AP) held in Mumbai on July 11, 2025. In his speech, Adani highlighted the critical role of the spine as the fundamental architecture for human resilience and praised doctors as symbols of hope and humanity. He reflected on his entrepreneurial journey, beginning at age 16 when he moved to Mumbai without any backup and later managing a PVC film factory at 19. Adani emphasized the importance of evolving academic training for doctors to include skills in robotics, artificial intelligence (AI), systems thinking, and healthcare management. He called lower back pain a national crisis affecting India's productivity and urged entrepreneurs to develop India’s first AI-powered spinal diagnostic platform. Adani also referenced the economic liberalization initiated by then-Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi in 1985, which eased import licensing norms and challenged the existing license raj. Throughout his address, Adani underscored his belief in India's future, particularly in energy grids, logistics, and industrial infrastructure, and announced preparations for substantial capital expenditure investments. He also cited the film 'Munna Bhai MBBS' as a source of inspiration, highlighting its message about healing through humanity and the need for mindset change to drive transformation.
