The Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) President, A. Jagan Mohan Rao, along with four other officials, was arrested by the Telangana CID in connection with a ticketing and funds embezzlement scam during the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) season. The arrests followed a vigilance panel report and investigations into irregularities at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium. The accused were taken into custody and subsequently remanded to judicial custody until July 22, 2025, and shifted to Chanchalguda jail. Allegations include a scam involving the procurement of 1,340 cricket balls for Rs 1 crore. The case has drawn attention from cricket figures, including former India captain Mohammad Azharuddin, who noted this as the first time an HCA president has been arrested over such allegations. The crackdown highlights ongoing efforts by Telangana police to address corruption within cricket administration linked to the IPL 2025 season.
