India’s government and allied civil-society groups have begun a series of public events under the “Har Ghar Tiranga” campaign, encouraging citizens to display the national flag ahead of Independence Day on 15 August. Union Minister Jitendra Singh formally launched a nationwide “Tiranga Yatra” in Udhampur, travelling on the newly inaugurated Vande Bharat Express to the Martyr Captain Tushar Mahajan Railway Station to mark the start of the initiative. Similar rallies were held across the country. Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha said state-run and non-government organisations had mobilised widespread participation, while a 1.5-kilometre tricolour was carried by hundreds of residents in Teetwal, a frontier village in Jammu & Kashmir’s Kupwara district near the Line of Control, turning the border settlement into what organisers called a symbol of unity. In Delhi, BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj and BJP MLA Anil Sharma led a march celebrating both the flag campaign and the army’s recent “Operation Sindoor,” drawing what organisers described as thousands of young participants. Sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik unveiled a beach sculpture honouring the campaign, and former cricketer-turned-legislator Ashok Dinda in Kolkata urged respect for the national flag during upcoming celebrations.
