The Delhi government has expanded facilities for the annual Kanwar Yatra, with Minister Kapil Mishra inspecting newly erected welcome gates at the city’s Apsara Border on 16 July. A total of 17 arches, styled after those used at the Mahakumbh and named for the 12 Jyotirlingas and Lord Shiva, have been set up to greet pilgrims entering the capital. Mishra said authorities have authorised 374 Kanwar camps (shivirs) this year, more than double the 170 in 2024, and that logistical preparations are nearly complete. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta is scheduled to lead a formal reception for the Kanwariyas on 20 July.
