The Indian Navy recently celebrated the graduation of the Second Basic Hawk Conversion Course at INS Dega, Visakhapatnam, where Lieutenant Atul Kumar Dhull and Sub Lieutenant Aastha Poonia received the 'Wings of Gold' from Rear Admiral Janak Bevli. The Navy continues to emphasize rigorous training for its personnel, including divers who undergo extensive underwater exercises and aviators trained at INS Garuda, known for its challenging programs. Rescue training for naval aviators is also a key focus. Meanwhile, the contract for three additional Scorpene submarines, which are expected to be larger and more capable than the existing six in terms of endurance and firepower, remains pending government clearance despite cost negotiations concluding in the last fiscal year. Alongside this, India is advancing its nuclear-powered attack submarine program, with two submarines cleared for development. These new high-tech vessels will be equipped with advanced BrahMos supersonic cruise missiles, with Larsen & Toubro playing a significant role in their construction. Additionally, the Indian Navy's Project 17A stealth destroyer program is progressing, with updates shared by Jay Varghese, the project in-charge at Mazagon Dock Limited (MDL).
