Retired High Court judge John Michael D Cunha on Friday submitted a two-volume report to Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on the 4 June stampede outside Bengaluru’s M. Chinnaswamy Stadium that left 11 people dead and injured more than 50. The state government had given the one-member commission a one-month deadline to investigate the causes of the crowd crush and recommend measures to prevent similar incidents. Details of the findings were not immediately disclosed. Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar said the government would review the conclusions before deciding on follow-up action. The report is expected to guide future crowd-management protocols at major sporting venues in Karnataka.
