The tragedy has sparked widespread protests across Kerala, with opposition parties including the Congress and BJP demanding the resignation of Kerala Health Minister Veena George. Youth Congress workers staged marches to the minister's residence and other locations such as the Kozhikode Collectorate, while police used water cannons to disperse protestors in Thiruvananthapuram. The protests intensified over the days following the collapse, reflecting growing public and political pressure on the state government. Separately, Kerala Education Minister Sivankutty criticized the union government for delays in releasing funds to the state, urging equal treatment for students in Kerala compared to those in Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh.
