Maharashtra police are investigating the death of a newborn after a 19-year-old woman, who had just delivered on a moving sleeper-coach bus, allegedly threw the baby out of a window near Parbhani around 6:30 a.m., according to an official statement. Officers said the woman was travelling with a man who identified himself as her husband. Both were detained after passengers alerted the driver and police were called at the next stop. The infant was declared dead at a nearby hospital. Investigators are taking witness statements and reviewing onboard camera footage, and have registered a case of culpable homicide. A post-mortem examination is under way, and police said additional charges could follow pending forensic results.
