Faridkot Police have arrested Deputy Superintendent of Police Rajanpal Singh, who headed the Crime Against Women cell in the district, for alleged corruption. According to Senior Superintendent of Police Pragya Jain, Rajanpal Singh first solicited a Rs 1-lakh payment from a family seeking help in a matrimonial-dispute case and later attempted to pay the same amount to officials at the SSP’s office to quash a subsequent complaint against him. An FIR has been registered and departmental proceedings have been initiated against the officer. The arrest adds to a series of recent bribery allegations involving law-enforcement personnel in northern India, underscoring continuing concerns about police accountability.
