A retired deputy superintendent of the Central Reserve Police Force, Tarsem Singh, was arrested in Amritsar on Friday after he allegedly opened fire on his family during a property-related dispute. Police said Singh used his licensed weapon outside Thana Sadar on Majitha Road, killing his son and critically injuring his wife and daughter-in-law. The victims were taken to hospital and an investigation is under way, according to Amritsar ACP Rishav Bhola. In a separate incident the same day, a 32-year-old police constable in Indore died by suicide after a disagreement with his wife, who had left for her parents’ home. Local authorities said the officer shot himself with his service revolver. They have initiated an in-house inquiry and are arranging counselling for affected personnel.
