Law enforcement agencies across multiple U.S. states have seized large quantities of illegal fireworks ahead of and during the July 4th celebrations. In California, West Covina police confiscated approximately 9,300 pounds of illegal fireworks and arrested a Fullerton man, while San Francisco deputies discovered 1,648 pounds of illegal fireworks in a stolen U-Haul truck. The Inland Empire authorities seized 10,000 pounds of aerial fireworks concealed in a shipping container in Phelan. In Pueblo, Colorado, over 2,000 pounds of illegal fireworks were seized. San Bernardino County authorities confiscated 900 pounds during the Fourth of July, and Redwood City police seized nearly 600 pounds, issuing about 65 warnings and making two arrests. Sacramento police arrested two individuals and seized 450 pounds of illegal fireworks. In Nevada's Las Vegas Valley, Metro Police confiscated over 8,800 pounds of illegal fireworks and cited 149 people as part of the "You Light It, We Write It" task force. Meanwhile, in India, the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) foiled a major smuggling attempt by seizing 100 metric tonnes (approximately 220,462 pounds) of Chinese firecrackers valued at ₹35 crore (350 million rupees) during "Operation Fire Trail." The fireworks were illicitly imported under the guise of a KASEZ unit and certain IEC holders. Additionally, Indian police agencies continue their efforts against drug trafficking, with significant busts including a key drug syndicate in Delhi and a drug factory in Maharashtra's Sangli district where approximately 126 kilograms of mephedrone were seized. Punjab officials have also intensified anti-drug campaigns, with public outreach initiatives encouraging citizens to support police efforts to make the state drug-free.
