Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami spent Saturday morning in his native constituency of Khatima, Udham Singh Nagar, where he joined local farmers in ploughing fields and transplanting paddy in Nagla Terai. The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party leader said the hands-on participation was intended to honour the "hard work, sacrifice and dedication" of farmers, whom he called the backbone of the state’s economy. After the farm work, Dhami performed the Hudkiya Baul folk song, a traditional prayer to deities of land, water and rain, underscoring the cultural significance of the monsoon planting season in the Himalayan state. While no new agricultural policy announcements were made, the public appearance highlighted the administration’s bid to connect with rural constituents at the start of the kharif crop cycle.
