Uttarakhand Police Detain Three After Kanwar Yatra Car Vandalism

Uttarakhand Police arrested three kanwariyas early Friday after a car was vandalised in the Bahadrabad police-station area of Haridwar district. The incident followed a minor collision between the vehicle and devotees participating in the annual Kanwar Yatra, according to police statements cited in local media footage. Video circulating from the scene shows a group of pilgrims smashing the car's windows and damaging other vehicles parked along the Haridwar–Rurki stretch of National Highway-58. Officers arrived shortly after the clash and brought the situation under control, detaining the alleged perpetrators on charges of rioting and damage to public property. Authorities said additional personnel have been deployed along the pilgrimage route to prevent further disruptions as the Kanwar Yatra, which draws millions of Shiva devotees to collect water from the Ganges, enters its peak phase.
