Ahead of the Jagannath Rath Yatra in Gujarat, extensive security measures have been implemented in Surat and Ahmedabad. The city has identified 152 sensitive points, established 25 additional watchtowers, and is employing AI-enabled CCTV cameras and a dedicated control room staffed by senior crime branch and trained officers to ensure safety. In Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand, preparations for the Kanwar Yatra include deployment of personnel from the Provincial Armed Constabulary, Anti-Terrorist Squad, and Rapid Action Force. In Ghaziabad, police have arranged measures to assist devotees, including preventing inconvenience caused by damaged Kanwars. Haridwar's DGP Deepam Seth has deployed around 7,000 police personnel and is overseeing security through drones and CCTV, coordinating closely with neighboring states. Sambhal district has implemented a three-tier security system with drone cameras, CCTV at over 200 locations, and more than 11 control rooms to manage the event. Authorities across these regions are focused on ensuring smooth conduct and public safety during these major religious processions.
